What You Get for Your BIA Membership

We give you the tools and resources to help you operate a successful business in New Hampshire.
Public Policy Advocacy
Our policy vice presidents work directly with the governor, state legislators and regulators to implement pro-business policies and legislation. We monitor and respond to many issues that arise each legislative session and throughout the year that directly impact your business. No matter your business size, we are your direct connection to the political process.

BIA Policy Committees
As a BIA member, you drive the organization's priorities and focus. Together, we implement solutions that work for business.

BIA's four policy committees cover the spectrum of business issues. Staffed by BIA's policy vice presidents, the committees are comprised of volunteers from member companies. You can participate in BIA policy committees and play an active role in developing and responding to state public policy. Committee members guide BIA policy decisions through discussion and recommendations.

BIA policy committees include:
  • Economic Development
  • Fiscal Policy
  • HR/Health Care/Workforce Development
  • Manufacturing & End Users

BIA Policy Development Process: Setting a Proactive Business Agenda
BIA members play an integral role in the organization's four-step policy development process. Each year, BIA establishes a proactive legislative and regulatory agenda. Through active involvement in business roundtables held throughout the state, a member survey and policy committee review, members shape BIA's priorities based on their most-pressing business challenges.

Federation Membership in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Small business members, or New Hampshire subsidiaries of larger entities with current BIA membership, automatically earn membership in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce through the Federation Membership Program. Federation membership provides many benefits including access to member-only sections of the Chamber's online Small Business Center; discounts on products and services through various affinity programs; and communications and information that alert small businesses to pressing federal legislation and policy initiatives.

Timely issue briefs and legislative alerts
We make it easy for you to follow important legislation that impacts your business. During the legislative session, our policy vice presidents track and report the status of business-related bills in a comprehensive weekly legislative report, BIA Legislative Review, available to BIA members. Whether you plan to attend a hearing or simply want to check the status of specific legislation, the BIA Legislative Review is a valuable tool to help you stay engaged and informed.

Legislative Scorecard
BIA publishes an annual legislative scorecard which tracks and reports how each legislator voted on key business legislation, allowing you to make informed decisions about your candidates on election day. The easy-to-follow scorecard indicates whether each vote was consistent with BIA's position.

Enterprise magazine
Our annual magazine, Enterprise, provides members with a look inside BIA. With features on leading large and small businesses in NH, as well as in-depth coverage on how important public policy measures affect all NH employers, Enterprise is fun, informative way to see how BIA is working for your.

Professional development and networking
Whether its through BIA policy committees or business-related events, forums or workshops, we create opportunities to connect you to the political process and to New Hampshire's strong and influential business community. BIA plans and hosts numerous functions throughout the year that enable members to meet and interact with the state's top political, business and opinion leaders. View our Events Calendar

BIA Energy Program
BIA partners with Usource, an independent company that works with commercial, industrial and institutional clients to procure lower cost natural gas and electricity from local and regional suppliers. BIA members that are part of the BIA Energy Program can benefit from economies of scale when negotiating rates in the extremely competitive and volatile energy market.
